In 2016, Robert worked closely with the founders of King to develop a visual identity that matched their passion, cuisine and personalities. Their ingredient-led dishes are seasonal, simple, and uniquely nostalgic. And their business atmosphere is both relaxed and considered: a direct result of the team's charming personalities.

Over the course of several months, Robert met with the founders to discuss and articulate their inspirations, passions, dreams, fears, and business plan. They sampled dishes, told stories from childhood, and compiled a moodboard to reference throughout the buildout process. These workshops built the foundation for the design process, and gave direction to their business.
Certain themes became clear from the workshops and inspirations: a celebration of all that is natural, warm, pure, and simple. King will be ingredient-led, open, generous, and considered.
King is a New York City restaurant serving a daily-changing menu of seasonal, simple food with influences from Southern France and Italy.

To create a blend of comfort and consideration, a simple use of color and typography was paired with hand-written elements and artistic explorations. Colors evoke golden, warm light. A single typeface is used to emphasize simplicity. Menus, signage, and printed materials are adorned with hand-painted artworks and lettering.
