Recollection No.1

brushed ink on torn book pages

The further we get from a memory, the more it dissolves into a pastiche of smaller moments connected like the parts of mobile: tied to one another but constantly changing order, importance and focus. Language is often not enough to express everything a memory is. We can go to great lengths to describe an event, an object, and the emotions associated, but to truly capture the experience of that memory – what it is to remember something – is impossible in language.
